At Calvary we are in a season of historic transition. Pastor Don Wilhite is preparing for his retirement in April of 2014. To prepare the church for this season of transition, we will be given the opportunity to vote on the co-pastor on April 15, 2012. This strategic transition will enable the church to continue moving forward as we continue to “Carry Out the Great Commission By Healing Hurts and Meeting Needs”. Many are interested in how and when this transition will occur. This web page exists to provide a means for transparent communication with the church family on this historic change in church leadership. Pastor Don Wilhite has led us well for nearly 40 years, and he is committed to lead us well through a transition into his retirement.
On January 1, Pastor Don Wilhite communicated a clear and concise presentation of the transitions to take place in 2011. If you would like to listen to that sermon, please click here, or search “Don Wilhite” in iTunes.
Some key dates to make note of are as follows:
1. A formal letter to the church family: During the last week of March, the Council of Five and the Pastor will mail a letter to the church family with details on the person that will be recommended to succeed Bro. Don as the next pastor of Calvary.
2. Church Wide Q&A: On Wednesday, April 11, we will conduct a Q&A session in the worship center. During this meeting, the pastoral staff and Council of Five members will be available to answer questions from the church body. Open microphones will be available to ask questions publicly, or questions may be submitted below using the online form.
3. Church Vote: On Sunday, April 15, the church will formally vote on the Council of Fives nomination of Co-Pastor. This worship service will be a time of celebration for what God will continue to do in our church family.
